Staying Grounded Through the Eclipse & Fall Equinox

There’s a lot of heavy energy moving through the world right now, and if you’re anything like me, you’ve probably been feeling it in your body, your thoughts, even your sleep.
When things feel chaotic on the outside, it’s natural to wobble on the inside. The good news is that the Universe is offering us a natural pause point—a place to breathe, reset, and find balance.
Next weekend we’ll be moving through two big energy portals: the Solar Eclipse in Virgo on September 21st and the Fall Equinox on September 22nd. These back-to-back events create an opening for clarity, release, and grounding—exactly what many of us are craving.
The Wisdom of the Equinox

In Pagan and earth-based traditions, the Fall Equinox is the moment when day and night stand in perfect balance. It’s a threshold between the fullness of summer’s harvest and the quiet of winter’s rest.
It’s a time to:
Give thanks for all you’ve gathered this year.
Let go of what has run its course.
Re-centre yourself in balance—light and dark, inner and outer.
I like to think of it as a sacred pause. Nature reminds us that balance isn’t something we achieve once—it’s something we keep coming back to again and again.
The Virgo Solar Eclipse

Just a day before the Equinox, we’ll experience a Solar Eclipse in Virgo. Eclipses are turning points, and Virgo’s energy brings themes of clarity, health, and refinement. Rather than pushing us into dramatic change, this eclipse asks us to slow down and look at the details:
What habits or routines support my wellbeing?
What clutter—physical, emotional, or mental—am I ready to release?
Where can I simplify and bring more ease into daily life?
This eclipse is also tied to the South Node, which means old patterns may resurface—not to pull us back, but to remind us that it’s time to gently let them go.
Grounding Practices for Chaotic Times
Here are a few simple ways to stay sane and centred as the energy swirls around us:
Clear your space. Tidy up a drawer, sweep your floor, delete some files from your phone. Virgo loves clarity, and you’ll feel lighter immediately.
Write and release. Journal about what’s weighing on you. Burn or bury the page as a symbol of letting it go.
Touch the earth. Take off your shoes and stand on the ground, lean against a tree, or hold a stone. Nature will steady you.
Check your routines. Notice what habits feel nourishing right now, and which ones drain you. Even small adjustments can make a big difference.
Make time for stillness. Rest is medicine. Even five quiet minutes with a cup of tea can reset your whole system.
A Gentle Invitation
On the day of the eclipse, or during the Equinox itself, I invite you to take just a few moments for yourself. Step outside if you can. Breathe deeply. Feel your feet on the earth.
Then whisper to yourself: I release what no longer serves me. I welcome clarity, balance, and ease.
The world may be noisy and heavy, but you don’t have to carry it all. These cosmic events are little reminders that you can put some things down, find your balance again, and step forward lighter.
